Clique is helping Lisa Blair raise funds to cover her expenses while she competes in the gruelling Clipper Round the world Yacht race, as well as to support Lisa’s preferred charity Oceanswatch.

Let us tell you a little about who Lisa is and what the Clipper Round the World Yacht race and Oceanswatch are all about.

Lisa grew up on the Sunshine Coast. After a period working in the 
Whitsunday Islands she developed a love of sailing. This was fueled by 
reading books and crewing on a friends yacht from Samoa to Hawaii. She 
stumbled across the “Clipper Round the World Yacht Race” on the internet and made a decision. that this was what she wanted to do. She just had the small problem of raising about $90,000.

 

She set on a path of hard work and fundraising activities which included riding a bike from Sydney to Mooloolaba. The last of the funds were made possible with a few small loans from friends and family and here she is, half way around the world representing Queensland on the Gold Coast Australia yacht in the “Clipper Round the World Yacht Race”.

Lisa’s motto is “Just Do, the World is Changed by Doers”.

The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is the longest yacht race in the world, covering a distance of 40 000 miles. The race involves 10 identical
ocean racing yachts that are crewed by 17 amateur sailors and one
experienced skipper. 

The race will be stopping in 13 different countries, circumnavigating the world under sail in an 11 month marathon.

With all of the budgets equal; no one has a head start. This is the ultimate long distance match race attracting global media interest.

OceansWatch is an international not for profit organisation which works
with sailors, divers and scientists worldwide to help developing coastal
communities conserve their marine environments, develop sustainable
lifestyles and access primary education.
